About The Position

The Professional Learning Specialist - Gifted position is within the Learning & Performance Division and reports to the Content Coordinator. This role is exempt and follows a 190-day teacher work schedule. The specialist will contribute to the K-12 curriculum development and implementation, provide guidance to administrators and teachers on educational programs, and manage assigned projects. A key responsibility is to support the improvement of student achievement through professional development and resource deployment. The role also involves coordinating district-wide events, ensuring Board policies are current, and effectively communicating program goals to various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator Certificate, or meet the district's professional qualifications.
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
  • Recent participation at relevant district, state, and other professional development opportunities focusing on research-based instructional techniques and lesson planning.
  • Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
  • Must abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work at the physical worksite.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.

  • Georgia Leadership Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development, articulation, evaluation, revision, and implementation of the K-12 curriculum.
  • Provide guidance and support to building administration and teacher leaders on educational programs, including instructional and planning observation, feedback cycles, and guidance for next steps.
  • Implement assigned and designated projects with cross-departmental and cross-divisional program support staff and administrators.
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of data to improve assigned programs and academic achievement.
  • Support improvement of student achievement results at local schools through professional development and the deployment of appropriate resources.
  • Coordinate assigned district-wide events under the direction of the assigned coordinator.
  • Ensure Board policies related to the content instructional program are reflective of current practices and expectations.
  • Effectively articulate curricular and instructional goals, program, initiatives, and results to internal and external groups.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
