This position provides direction for the design, implementation, and evaluation of school programs for special populations, including Gifted and Talented and Students with Disabilities. This position works with the Gifted and Talented Education Programs and provides technical assistance to schools, students, and families, as well as acts as the Grant Specialist for the state’s GT legislative grant. This position is also a program support specialist for the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) work at the agency which includes coaching, grant management, and development and delivery of continuing education opportunities. This position assists school districts and other public agencies providing special education, general education, gifted and talented education, and related services through both online learning on the Teacher Learning Hub and in-person training events such as OPI Summer Institute and High School Forum. This position also collaborates with multiple programs within the agency, and other agencies, to coordinate between various grants and initiatives streamlining the services provided. This position uses a data-driven approach to assist school districts and others in identifying continuing education and technical assistance needs to improve outcomes for Montana students with disabilities and unique learning needs.
