This position will support Elementary Students. The nature of the position involves designing appropriate differentiated learning experiences for students, utilizing strategies and models appropriate for differentiating learning experiences. It also includes designing and implementing appropriate experiences to address the socio-emotional needs of gifted/high-ability learners. The role assists with referrals, assessments, and identification of gifted students according to state guidelines and the school division’s local plan. Progress is monitored, issues/concerns are addressed, and accurate lists of referred, assessed, and identified students are maintained. The position involves designing and providing small group instruction to identified gifted students. Additionally, it assists with the design and implementation of school-wide in-services, workshops, and/or courses/training focusing on assessing the needs and abilities of gifted and potentially gifted students, as well as providing appropriately differentiated curriculum and instruction. Assistance is also provided with the dissemination of information about gifted education programs/services. The role is directly accountable to the principal of the assigned school(s) and the Senior Coordinator of Academic Rigor for the performance of all assigned duties. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for an advanced degree stipend.
