Gift Shop Sales Associate (Part-Time/Seasonal)
About The Position
This is a part-time/seasonal position for the months of September 2026 through December 2026. The role is responsible for being the customer advocate, consistently representing GLBC in a positive manner, and ensuring safe alcohol sales practices. Duties include greeting guests, answering questions, suggesting merchandise, handling cash transactions, maintaining store appearance through straightening, folding, restocking, dusting, and cleaning. The associate will also monitor for faulty merchandise, update price tags, check beer expiration dates, price tag received merchandise, answer the telephone, and complete data entry as needed. Other duties and projects may be assigned.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of prior retail experience is required.
- Solid verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to stay organized under pressure and make spontaneous decisions.
- Must be detail oriented with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and troubleshoot when necessary.
- Must be computer savvy.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
- Flexible scheduling with majority of hours during nights and weekends (Sunday availability is required).
Responsibilities
- Be the customer advocate, while consistently representing GLBC in a positive manner.
- Card all patrons under the age of 30.
- Follow all procedures for selling alcohol safely.
- Enthusiastically greet guests, answer questions, and offer suggestions regarding merchandise.
- Count and balance cash drawer; and adhere to proper cash handling procedures.
- Straighten and fold merchandise throughout the shift.
- Restock shelves from in house supplies.
- Dust all shelves, clean all glasses, including windows, shelves and counter, empty waste basket and vacuum throughout shift.
- Continually check for faulty merchandise, remove from shelves, tag reason for removal, record in inventory log, and report to Store Supervisor.
- Audit and update all price tags.
- Check beer expiration dates and ensure proper rotation.
- Price tag all received merchandise.
- Answer telephone and forward calls where appropriate.
- Complete data entry as needed.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
