About The Position

This position is responsible for providing excellent guest service in the Gift Shop, handling retail sales, maintaining merchandise, and ensuring a safe and secure environment. The role involves operating a cash register, assisting guests with product information and special orders, and contributing to the overall smooth operation of the gift shop.

Requirements

  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older to apply.
  • Must be able to work weekends and unusual hours.
  • Money handling experience required.
  • Must have the ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
  • Must not have been convicted of shoplifting or theft in the past five (5) years.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with cash handling is required.
  • Must possess effective communication skills.
  • Shall have demonstrated a proven work record in previous positions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to apply commonsense decisions during transactions to ensure superior guest service.
  • No person shall be eligible for employment if they have been convicted, or have a pending unresolved charge of: Any crime which would require compliance with the reporting requirements for sex offenders pursuant to Menominee or Wisconsin law; or A felony conviction of any kind in the immediately preceding two years; A crime of any kind related to gambling in the immediately preceding two years; A crime of any kind related to theft, fraud, or misrepresentation in the immediately preceding two years; A crime of any kind related to a crime of violence, or involving domestic violence, or a drug offense involving sale of drugs, or possession with intent to sell drugs during the immediately preceding two years.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests to the Gift Shop in a friendly, courteous manner, working to achieve a maximum level of guest service and satisfaction.
  • Maintain a neat, clean uniform and appearance.
  • Perform all functions of the cash register/point-of-sale system, including acceptance of payment for retail sales (cash, credit card, checks, purchase orders), and troubleshooting.
  • Take special orders for cigarettes and tobacco products on appropriate forms.
  • Become familiar with all Gift Shop merchandise and inventory, and provide assistance and information to guests.
  • Properly close out till at shift end and be escorted by Security to the Recycler/Vault to have closing forms/monies verified.
  • Repay all shortages.
  • Adhere to the WE CARD PROGRAM (No sales of nicotine/tobacco products to guests under 21).
  • Stock, clean, dust, fold clothing, face shelves daily, and vacuum.
  • Rotate cigarettes and tobacco products when restocking to prevent drying.
  • Assist in stocking of incoming deliveries of tobacco, cigarettes, and merchandise.
  • Maintain a neat, clean/sanitary work area.
  • Ensure items are affixed with a security tag to prevent/deter theft, and remove/deactivate those tags upon purchase of items.
  • Observe guests to prevent/deter theft.
  • Attend mandatory monthly inventory count with the team.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of facilities and upcoming events on property, in order to advise guests upon request.
  • Communicate important, relevant information to the following shift and management.
  • Assist in training new staff, assuring proper procedures and policies are followed to maintain superior guest service and teamwork.
  • Assist the Gift Shop Manager and Supervisor in creating and setting up displays of merchandise, or taking down/removing displays, upon request.
  • Attend scheduled departmental meetings.
  • Assist in monitoring merchandise, to ensure it is correctly priced and displayed.
  • Maintain a consistent, regular attendance record, and adhere to the Gift Shop Employee Manual and all new posted rules, memos, and regulations.
  • Call Security to check outgoing empty boxes/bags to ensure integrity of the Gift Shop.
  • Report and turn over Found Money to Security.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
