About The Position

The GI Technologist is a self-motivated individual who is responsible for assisting the professional nurse and/or physician in assuring continuity of care during the pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and immediate post-procedure periods of the patient’s procedural experience. The Gastrointestinal Technologist supports and contributes to the service excellence mission of Enloe Medical Center and the Gastroenterology/Endoscopy Department.

Requirements

  • One year GI, peri-operative or health related fields involving direct patient care experience OR prior experience working in a health care environment utilizing aseptic and sterile technique
  • Current CPR recognition
  • Ability to work as a team member in providing care to the GI/Endo patient.
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients, and public.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and problem solve efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment while remaining calm, efficient and focused.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of identification, care and maintenance of procedural equipment.
  • Ability to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years GI, peri-operative or health related fields
  • Graduate of school for surgical technologists and/or U.S. military healthcare training
  • Completion of college course in anatomy/physiology
  • SGNA GTS Gastroenterology Technician Certification within one year of hire
  • SGNA AGTS Advanced Gastroenterology Technician Certification within two years of hire
