About The Position

At Landmark Medical Center, the GI Technician works as a scrub assistant to the physician during invasive GI procedures. The technician hands sterilized instruments, scopes, and supplies to the physician without unnecessary delay. When on call, the technician must arrive prepared to assist in an emergency case within 30 minutes of being called. The role supports continuous, quality care for adult and older adult patients; follows applicable regulations, standards, and hospital and departmental policies and procedures; participates in departmental Performance Improvement activities; and serves as a resource for other personnel as appropriate. The position is directly accountable to the GI RN and the Director of Perioperative Services or designee. Landmark Medical Center is a 214-bed acute care hospital in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, serving northern Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts since 1873. It is a member of Prime Healthcare.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience, for new hires effective April 2014.
Graduate of a CNA or Medical Assistant training program.
Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

Nice To Haves

Previous on-the-job training with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a GI setting.
