About The Position

The course begins with basic measurement of vertical and horizontal angles, differential and profile levelling, closed traverse and total station surveying, coordinate geometry, and topographic surveys. The students are then introduced to GPS and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) based surveying methods. Students will gain practical experience in the use of automatic and laser levels, theodolites, total station, RTK GPS systems, and UAV. (Physical Geography).

Requirements

  • PhD or Masters Degree
  • Geography, Environmental Studies discipline
  • Essential theoretical and practical knowledge of field surveying with a variety of instruments (automatic levels, theodolites, total station and RTK DGPS) to create detailed site maps, cross-sections, topographic maps and digital elevation models.
  • Background in the use of UAV technology to create maps at the field scale.
  • Experience importing, analysing, and presentation of field survey maps in GIS (ArcMap 1.2).
