About The Position

Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Geriatrician to join a network of federally qualified community health centers in the Bronx, New York. This role is dedicated to providing specialized medical care to the elderly population within a mission-driven community healthcare setting. The position offers flexible scheduling and involves 24-hour on-call service on a rotating weekly basis. It provides an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a collaborative and supportive environment focused on geriatric care and improving patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school and completion of an accredited residency program.
  • Completion of a Fellowship in Geriatrics.
  • Valid NY State license, CDS, DEA, and BLS.
  • Must be Board Certified.
  • Proficient in conducting geriatric assessments, managing polypharmacy, diagnosing age-related conditions, and utilizing electronic health records.
  • Strong clinical judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Empathy, patience, cultural competence.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of and passion for Community Healthcare is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Examines or conducts tests on patients to provide information on medical conditions.
  • Analyzes records, reports, test results, or examination information to diagnose the medical condition of the patient.
  • Prescribes or administers treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
  • Explains procedures and discusses test results on prescribed treatments with patients.
  • Collects, records, and maintains patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination reports.
  • Refers patient to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary.
  • Completes and submits appropriate progress reports to the CMO.
  • Advises patients and the community concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and follows federal/state and organization regulations.
  • Plans, implements, or administers health programs or standards in the organization for information, prevention, or treatment of injury or illness.
  • Attends scheduled monthly and quarterly medical staff meetings as well as education meetings.
  • Agrees to see patients irrespective of their medical condition/diagnosis.
  • Provides 24-hour on-call service on a rotating weekly basis.
  • Conducts research to study anatomy and develop or test medications, treatments, or procedures to prevent or control disease injury.
  • Obtains and maintains admitting privileges to affiliated hospitals.
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned.
