About The Position

This job will primarily involve work with program logistics, support during some of our larger scale events throughout the year, and added support in GERC's assessment efforts. The students' main goal here will be to help bring further awareness to the campus regarding what is happening with the GERC, serve as a support system to connect our campus community to the services we provide, and gain some awareness of data and assessment measures.

Requirements

  • UW-Superior student in social sciences field working on independent project/study over summer semester that is related to gender equity initiatives or other social issues (preference for potential of project continuation into fall semester)
  • Commitment to collaborative leadership processes
  • Willingness to be flexible and work independently
  • Respect and understanding of confidentiality
  • Employment will require a criminal background check.
  • If you have prior work history within the last seven years with Universities of Wisconsin or State of Wisconsin agencies, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct.
  • References will be asked questions regarding employee misconduct, sexual violence and sexual harassment.
  • Employment is subject to federal laws that require verification of identity and legal right to work in the United States as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act.

Responsibilities

  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings with supervisor
  • Work with supervisor to establish personal work schedule on independent project and other matters for GERC support
  • Assist in campus and community tabling events and GERC events
  • Maintain awareness of campus offices, programs, and resources (such as SS&E offices, Advising, Student Support Services, and other student resources)
  • Advocate for and communicate about the services and opportunities provided by the GERC
  • Assist in achieving the mission and vision of the Gender Equity Resource Center through data collection and assessment, general awareness building, and service of student populations
