SYSTRA Canada is an engineering and consulting firm whose primary focus is to offer transportation solutions, whether for passengers or goods: feasibility studies of building a new railway line, increasing the capacity of the existing infrastructure, privatization of a railway. Geotechnical Designers needed for Transit Projects in Ontario.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in environmental assessments and excess soil
  • P.Eng. or P.Geo license in Ontario and QPESA designation required
  • University degree in a related field of study such as Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology or Geology
  • Highly technical abilities in environmental site assessment and remediation design, combined with a mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of risk assessment/remediation systems/techniques
  • Extensive working knowledge of Ontario Regulation 153/04, as amended (including the filing of Record of Site Condition)
  • Extensive working knowledge of Ontario Regulation 406/19, as amended
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as advanced technical writing abilities
  • Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and put forth creative solutions

Responsibilities

  • Technical services primarily focused on Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments to CSA and O.Reg. 153/04 requirements
  • Technical services related to Excess Soil Management to O.Reg. 406/19 requirements
  • Design foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks
  • Conduct site investigations and soil sampling
  • Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater conditions
  • Perform geotechnical analysis and interpret data
  • Experience in completing peer reviews of technical documents and reports
  • Draw on technical skills and expertise to design, install, and conduct ongoing maintenance of remediation systems
  • Working familiarity with Ontario Regulation 153/04 and Ontario Regulation 406/19
  • Scope & Report preparation
  • Review and evaluate the technical work of other staff
  • Maintain excellent client relationships in various industries
