About The Position

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer in Denver, CO. This role involves performing geotechnical analysis for the design of tailings and water storage facilities, tailings dams, and other mining infrastructure. The engineer will also conduct advanced numerical modeling of tailings dams, including deformation analysis using specialized software, and develop MPM code to model material runout behavior. Responsibilities include performing geotechnical evaluations such as material characterization, seepage, and slope stability analysis using geotechnical software, and assisting with the development of drawings, specifications, and calculation packages. The role also requires preparing technical reports and presentations of evaluation results for clients and Review Boards. Approximately 10% domestic travel is required, and telecommuting is permitted up to 3 days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field of study and 2 years of experience as a Geotechnical Engineer, Civil Engineer, or in a related occupation OR Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field of study with no experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform geotechnical analysis for the design of tailings and water storage facilities, tailings dams, and other mining infrastructure
  • Perform advanced numerical modeling of tailings dams, including deformation analysis using related geotechnical modeling software
  • Develop MPM code to model and interpolate materials runout behavior
  • Perform geotechnical evaluations including material characterization, seepage, and slope stability among others, using geotechnical software
  • Assist with the development drawings, specifications, and calculation packages
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations of evaluation results for the clients and Review Boards
