About The Position
The mission of a Geotechnical Laboratory Technician at HVJ North Texas, a leading specialty engineering firm in Texas, is to support Project Managers, the Laboratory Manager, and engineering staff in delivering high-quality geotechnical testing services that meet client expectations, industry standards, and company quality objectives. Responsibilities include conducting geotechnical laboratory testing, managing and maintaining soil samples, supporting quality management systems, accurately documenting test results, and assisting with engineering projects. The Geotechnical Laboratory Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of laboratory data while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in geotechnical laboratory testing is preferred
- Familiarity with ASTM standards for soil testing
- Proficiency in data entry and record-keeping
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety procedures
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a geotechnical laboratory setting
- Knowledge of specific geotechnical testing equipment (e.g., consolidometers, triaxial cells, sieve shakers)
- Familiarity with quality control/quality assurance (QC/QA) procedures in a laboratory environment
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
