About The Position

Langan is seeking a Field Technician - Geotechnical to join its collaborative team in Salt Lake City, UT. This individual will serve a key function in providing field inspections and testing services related to geotechnical investigations, earthwork, shallow foundations, ground improvement, and deep foundation construction. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment, collaborate with experienced engineering professionals, and support a diverse range of projects with opportunities for travel.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of related geotechnical field technician experience;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
  • Possess reliable transportation to access job sites and a valid driver's license in good standing;
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of work hours in the field.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered;
  • Construction or technology-related experience preferred, including logging borings, foundation subgrade and bearing zone inspections, earthwork testing, and Nuclear Gauge certification;

Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections related to logging borings and test pits, earthwork, shallow foundations, ground improvement, and deep foundations including augercast piles, driven piles, and drilled shafts;
  • Prepare daily field inspection reports and ensure all documentation and data sheets are accurate and up-to-date;
  • Oversee and document residential grout monitoring activities for sinkhole remediation projects;
  • Install and maintain seismograph vibration monitors, download and manage monitoring data, and assist with pre-construction condition documentation;
  • Support the preparation of monitoring reports and project documentation;
  • Maintain and troubleshoot field equipment as necessary;
  • Coordinate field activities with contractors and project teams to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements;
  • Perform other duties as requested.
