About The Position

This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in geotechnical engineering. Interns will assist with various aspects of geotechnical projects, including laboratory testing, documentation, field explorations, and site observations. The role is designed for individuals actively pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or Geology who are interested in structural support and problem-solving.

Requirements

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or related degree
• Interest in how structures are supported and a desire to think outside the box
• Must be able to provide suitable transportation for use on job sites - mileage will be reimbursed
• Position requires carrying 40 – 70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist height

Responsibilities

• Assisting with performing lab testing
• Drafting boring logs and location diagrams
• Scheduling of drill rigs for geotechnical projects
• Obtaining utility clearance for subsurface explorations
• Assisting with the subsurface exploration program and preparing drilling instructions
• Performing boring and test pit layouts by both conventional surveying and Global Positioning Systems (GPS)
• Classifying soil samples
• Performing hand augers to obtain subsurface information and soil samples
• Observing foundation or ground improvement installations
