Stantec is currently searching for a field-based Geotechnical Instrumentation Automation Technician on a regular part-time basis to support mining projects in northern New Mexico and report through Stantec’s U.S. Energy and Resources team. This is a non-exempt position; overtime hours worked will be paid in accordance with applicable federal and New Mexico employment requirements. Under the supervision of the Senior Civil Engineer and/or the Automation Specialist, the Geotechnical Instrumentation Automation Technician is responsible for instrument assembly, installation, operations and maintenance, and troubleshooting assistance for geotechnical and hydrogeologic automated monitoring stations and related systems. You will serve as a key field contact for automated and manual instrumentation troubleshooting for both client and internal project needs. This is primarily a field position, with the opportunity to provide limited project support from an office or remote setting when project needs allow. Approximately 85% of the work is expected to be field based. Work schedules will be based on project-specific requirements and may include rotations of 12-hour shifts, day or night work, and travel to remote field locations in mountainous terrain. Work may be scheduled on short notice. The project areas include high-elevation conditions, seasonal snow, freezing winter temperatures, and variable summer monsoon weather; candidates must be prepared to work safely in changing field conditions. Travel costs incurred while traveling to and from the projects will be covered from approved U.S. departure locations in accordance with company and project requirements.
