About The Position

Turner Staffing Group is seeking an Instrumentation & Automation Technician to support a mine restart project at the Thompson Creek Mine. This is a project-based position working directly for Turner Staffing Group and supporting the site team with instrumentation, controls, and electrical maintenance activities throughout the mill. Journeyperson technicians and qualified third-year apprentices are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working under the direction of site leadership in an active industrial environment.

Requirements

  • Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician, Automation Technician, or equivalent industrial experience preferred.
  • Qualified third-year instrumentation or electrical apprentices will be considered.
  • Experience working with industrial instrumentation, controls, sensors, or automation systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and control components.
  • Experience in mining, mineral processing, manufacturing, or another heavy industrial environment preferred.
  • Ability to read basic electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow direction and work effectively as part of a site-based team.
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices.
  • Reliable attendance and transportation to the project site.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in mining, mineral processing, manufacturing, or another heavy industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Replace apron feeder controllers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair belt speed sensors.
  • Remove loose, abandoned, or hanging cables from various areas of the mill.
  • Support the installation and connection of flowmeters, probes, and other mill sensors.
  • Assist with instrumentation, automation, and controls work under the guidance of the site team.
  • Inspect work areas and equipment before beginning assigned tasks.
  • Follow site procedures, electrical standards, and lockout/tagout requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Communicate work status, equipment concerns, and safety hazards to site supervision.
  • Perform additional project-related duties as assigned.
