Instrumentation and Automation Technician
About The Position
Turner Staffing Group is seeking an Instrumentation & Automation Technician to support a mine restart project at the Thompson Creek Mine. This is a project-based position working directly for Turner Staffing Group and supporting the site team with instrumentation, controls, and electrical maintenance activities throughout the mill. Journeyperson technicians and qualified third-year apprentices are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working under the direction of site leadership in an active industrial environment.
Requirements
- Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician, Automation Technician, or equivalent industrial experience preferred.
- Qualified third-year instrumentation or electrical apprentices will be considered.
- Experience working with industrial instrumentation, controls, sensors, or automation systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and control components.
- Experience in mining, mineral processing, manufacturing, or another heavy industrial environment preferred.
- Ability to read basic electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow direction and work effectively as part of a site-based team.
- Strong commitment to safe work practices.
- Reliable attendance and transportation to the project site.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in mining, mineral processing, manufacturing, or another heavy industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Replace apron feeder controllers.
- Troubleshoot and repair belt speed sensors.
- Remove loose, abandoned, or hanging cables from various areas of the mill.
- Support the installation and connection of flowmeters, probes, and other mill sensors.
- Assist with instrumentation, automation, and controls work under the guidance of the site team.
- Inspect work areas and equipment before beginning assigned tasks.
- Follow site procedures, electrical standards, and lockout/tagout requirements.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Communicate work status, equipment concerns, and safety hazards to site supervision.
- Perform additional project-related duties as assigned.
