Geotechnical Field Technician
About The Position
This position is based out of our Richmond, VA office, but requires a daily commute to Fredericksburg, VA and a work schedule that includes Saturdays. This position will average 60 hours a week (10 hour days). Responsibilities include construction observation and testing of soil, concrete, and other materials. This is an EXCELLENT opportunity for a new graduate with interests in geology, geotechnical engineering, and construction project management looking to start their career with a stable, growing company. Ample opportunities for training, certifications and career advancement. You must own a vehicle, have a good driving record, like working with people, and enjoy working outdoors. GTA will provide you with Personal Protective Equipment, which includes High Visibility Vest, Hard Hat, Gloves, and Safety Glasses. Experience is preferred, but we will accept entry level candidates and provide training!
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Own a Reliable Vehicle, have a Valid Drivers License, and have a Good Driving Record
- Enjoy working outdoors
- Ability to work alone as well as in a group
- Ability to use their hands to handle, finger or feel; reach, climb or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit, see and smell; including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus.
- Regularly lift and/or move 60 pounds; and occasionally move 80 pounds or more (such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete or soil samples).
Nice To Haves
- B.S. in Civil Engineering, Geology, or similar degree preferred but not required
- Certificates such as NICET, ACI, WACEL, VA DOT (Department of Transportation) a plus
