Geotechnical Field Technician
About The Position
The Field Technician I will support the Project Manager, staff engineers, lab manager, or other staff as directed to assure client satisfaction following the applicable standards, specifications and company guidelines. This role involves performing field logging in various geologic formations across Texas, conducting lab tests, and documenting work performed as appropriate on media and forms provided. The technician will provide support to the Project Manager, Staff Engineers, and/or Laboratory Manager as needed, performing duties in a safe, cheerful, efficient, and workmanlike manner, and maintaining a safe, clean workspace.
Requirements
- Bachelors in Civil Engineering or in Geology or minimum of 2 years experience in soil borehole logging, bedrock characterization and lab testing of soil samples
- Ability to lift concrete, soil, or asphalt samples as a routine part of the job
- Ability to tolerate year-round outdoor work
- Ability to work nights and weekends if required
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with no history of accidents or alcohol/drug related traffic offenses
- Willingness to travel and work out of town about 95% of the time in a month when needed and ability to work over the weekends if needed
- Ability to lift 50 lbs required
- Ability to acquire related certifications, review, ASTM standards for lab testing and field work
