About The Position

STV is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Specialist for our Geotechnical department at our Boston, MA office. This role involves conducting geotechnical investigations, site assessments, and subsurface explorations to support various infrastructure, transportation, and building projects. The specialist will analyze soil, rock, and groundwater conditions, prepare detailed geotechnical reports with design recommendations, and perform design calculations for foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques. Additionally, the role requires providing technical support during construction, including reviewing submittals, performing field observations, and resolving geotechnical challenges. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies is essential to ensure project objectives and compliance standards are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of geotechnical engineering experience supporting transportation, infrastructure, and building projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Proficiency with geotechnical analysis software (e.g., gINT, SLOPE/W, LPILE, PLAXIS 2D or 3D) and standard office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise technical reports and presentations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or higher preferred.
