Geotechnical Engineering Specialist
About The Position
STV is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Specialist for our Geotechnical department at our Boston, MA office. This role involves conducting geotechnical investigations, site assessments, and subsurface explorations to support infrastructure, transportation, and building projects. The specialist will analyze soil, rock, and groundwater conditions and prepare detailed geotechnical reports with design recommendations. Responsibilities also include performing geotechnical design calculations for foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques, as well as providing technical support during construction. This includes reviewing submittals, performing field observations, and resolving geotechnical challenges. The role also entails assisting in the preparation of geotechnical engineering reports, specifications, and contract documents, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to ensure project objectives and compliance standards are met.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering
- Minimum of 2 years of geotechnical engineering experience supporting transportation, infrastructure, and building projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within one year.
- Proficiency with geotechnical analysis software (e.g., gINT, SLOPE/W, LPILE, PLAXIS 2D or 3D) and standard office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise technical reports and presentations.

- Master’s degree or higher preferred.
