About The Position

Benesch is hiring a Geotechnical Field Intern to support subsurface exploration and soil analysis for civil engineering projects. Working alongside experienced engineers and geologists, the intern will assist with laboratory testing, drafting boring logs and location diagrams, scheduling drill rigs, and obtaining utility clearances. Fieldwork includes laying out borings and test pits using conventional surveying and GPS, classifying soil samples, and observing foundation or ground improvement installations. The internship offers practical geotechnical engineering experience while contributing to real-world projects.

The position is based in either the Omaha or Lincoln, Nebraska office, with on-site work at project locations. Transportation to job sites is required.

Requirements

• Actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
• Strong interest in how structures are supported and a desire to solve engineering challenges creatively.
• Ability to perform fieldwork, including regularly carrying 40–70 lbs and lifting up to 85 lbs to waist height.
• Reliable transportation for use at job sites.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities
