About The Position

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure is currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join the Engineering Services – Specifications team. Under the supervision of the Director, the successful candidate will evaluate the appropriate and most cost-effective foundation support system, and the bearing capacity of shallow and deep foundations. Other key responsibilities include performing geotechnical studies/projects in subsurface investigations; soil/foundation engineering; pile analysis and design; retaining walls; bridge structures; settlement analysis; lateral earth pressures; and slope stability. Additionally, the Geotechnical Engineer will perform forensic engineering; site investigations; write reports; and provide geotechnical engineering support during construction.

Requirements

• Must be permanent in the Administrative Construction Project Manager title or reachable on the DDC promotional list (exam #3523) or the open-competitive list (exam #3039)
• Must include a copy of your Notice of Results or indicate if you are permanent in the title
• Must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.)
• Must present original documents proving citizenship or the legal right to work in the U.S.
• Educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accredited institution
• Credentials from foreign institutions require independent equivalency verification from an approved evaluation service
• Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York
• Must maintain the Motor Vehicle Driver License during employment
