For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, and technical support to the National Agricultural Statistics Service through the Experienced Worker Program (EWP). This opportunity applies to applicants legally eligible to work in the United States. This position has the option to work remotely. The enrollee serves as an Agency specialist on geospatial analytics and methodology, providing expert advice, authoritative guidance, and cross-agency support in the development, application, and improvement of advanced geospatial and remote-sensing methods used by NASS. The role encompasses technical expertise for remote sensing, acreage estimation, land cover classification, crop condition assessment, yield forecasting, geospatial statistics, and GIS-based analytics. The enrollee advises the agency and partner agencies on the operational use of advanced image-processing software, sensor data, and geospatial workflows to prepare, classify, and analyze satellite and aircraft systems data for crop monitoring and forecasting. The enrollee also provides technical guidance to USDA and non-USDA partners on methodologies supporting satellite-based agricultural monitoring, soil moisture and yield modeling, vegetation condition assessment, time-series analytics, and other geospatial techniques applied in NASS programs.
