About The Position

Hunt Oil Company (HOC) is seeking a Geologist Intern for the Western Region Subsurface department located in their Dallas, TX office. This is a paid summer internship opportunity with housing provided if needed. The internship involves subsurface geological interpretation of the Williston Basin, ND & MT, focusing on the mixed carbonate Bakken-Three Forks Fms. The student will perform geological tasks related to exploration and development of unconventional resources within a cross-discipline team. Tasks include petrophysical analysis, structural and stratigraphic mapping, creation of development plans, and data science analyses. If the opportunity arises, the student will also gain experience in geosteering/drilling operations.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a thesis-option Master’s in geoscience
Minimum of 3.0 grade point average
Proficiency in ArcGIS or other mapping software
Strong understanding of stratigraphy and sedimentology
Computer literacy
Pattern recognition and logic problem solving
Listening acuity and attention to detail in work product
Excellent work ethic
Presentation and communication skills are a must
Ability to work in an integrated, multidisciplinary team
Ability to manage multiple tasks & areas of responsibility concurrently
