About The Position

The Classroom Teacher supports and advances the mission of FCS by directing the activities of a class of students; reports to the Principal. Responsibilities include developing a warm rapport with students, creating a positive classroom environment, and training students in habits and routines that align with the FCS philosophy. The role involves maintaining excellent student conduct, becoming familiar with curriculum objectives, and actively participating in curriculum development. Professional development is encouraged through the exploration and implementation of new instructional techniques and curriculum. The teacher will use Curriculum Trak software for lesson planning, maintain attendance and grade records, and foster patriotism through daily pledges. A central aspect of the role is integrating God's Word into daily instruction, presenting the Gospel message with sensitivity, and praying for students. Individualized instruction and assessment are key, in cooperation with the Resource Center and fellow teachers. The position requires learning and applying educational technology skills, enriching the curriculum with creative assignments and field trips, and regularly checking student work. Maintaining a close, cooperative relationship with parents through frequent communication and prompt email responses is essential. The teacher is expected to attend weekly faculty meetings, Prayer 'N' Share sessions, and evening school activities, as well as participate in professional development. Prompt and faithful supervision duty is required, along with professional and modest dress according to the Staff Dress Code. The role also involves an awareness of the total school vision and a willingness to serve in special areas that enhance the ministry's effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord and the Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young people
  • Regular in attendance at an evangelical Protestant church
  • Commitment to a Biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behavior
  • If married, a solid commitment based on Mark 10:9 and positive marital relationship
  • Strong commitment to Christian education
  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in related field, including education courses
  • Committed to keeping ACSI or state certification current according to FCS guidelines
  • Ability to maintain an orderly learning atmosphere
  • Enthusiastic, sensitive, loving rapport with students, openness with parents and staff
  • Strong grasp of subject matter and keen ability to communicate concepts to students with a variety of learning styles, stimulate higher level thinking, and involve students in lessons
  • Well organized, diligent, creative
  • Ability to carry out physical requirements related to the job and building environment, such as (but not limited to) climbing stairs, riding the bus, supervising students both out-of-doors and indoors
  • Teachable, servant spirit

Responsibilities

  • Arrives at school promptly and stays until such time as necessary responsibilities are completed
  • Develops a warm rapport with students and a positive, secure, neat and attractive classroom environment; trains students in habits and routines which are part of the FCS philosophy; maintains excellent student conduct and attention
  • Becomes very familiar with yearly curriculum objectives and participates actively in curriculum writing and revising
  • Develops professionally by exploring and being willing to implement new instructional techniques and curriculum
  • Uses Curriculum Trak software to prepare lesson plans to ensure that the objectives of the curriculum are being met
  • Keeps attendance records, records grades according to department standards, and records of other monies from special projects if applicable
  • Fosters a spirit of patriotism and respect by conducting daily pledges
  • Places God's Word in a central position in daily instruction, integrating its principles throughout the day
  • Prays regularly for each child and presents the Gospel message and other biblical instruction with sensitivity and love; faithfully follows the philosophy and Bible guidelines of the school
  • Individualizes instruction and student assessment to meet the needs of both weaker and stronger students in cooperation with Resource Center and fellow teachers
  • Learns and applies educationally relevant technology skills for teaching, learning, and administrative tasks with support from the FCS technology department
  • Enriches basic curriculum with field trips, creative assignments, and library resources
  • Checks student work and sends it home on a regular basis
  • Maintains close, cooperative relationship with parents, communicating frequently with parents and responding to parent emails within 24 hours
  • Attends weekly faculty meetings, Prayer 'N' Share at least one time weekly, and evening activities of the school as directed; participates in professional development
  • Is prompt and faithful with supervision duty on a regularly scheduled basis
  • Dresses professionally and modestly, following the Staff Dress Code
  • Seeks an awareness of the total school vision and serves willingly in special areas which enhance the overall effectiveness of the ministry
