About The Position

Lower Columbia College is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and creative adjunct instructor to teach courses in Geology and Earth Science. Coursework may include lectures and labs for Introduction to Earth Sciences, and Introduction to Physical Geology. Courses may be in-person, hybrid, or online. Requirements

• Master’s degree in an Earth Science (Geology, Oceanography, Meteorology, or Astronomy), OR a Master’s degree in a related field with 30 graduate credits in Earth Science.
• Applicants must currently reside in Washington or Oregon, or be willing to relocate to one of these states.
• Must provide proof of identity and documentation of U.S. citizenship or appropriate legal authorization to work for the duration of this position as required by the Immigration Reform Control Act of 1995.
• Must declare whether they are the subject of any substantiated findings of sexual misconduct in any current or former employment or professional association or is currently being investigated for, or have left a position during an investigation into, a violation of any sexual misconduct policy at the applicant’s current or past employers or professional association.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality instruction in the classroom and online, adapting to a variety of teaching/learning situations, and maintaining up to date content.
• Teach and supervise geology and earth science lab experiences, being responsible for the safe and proper use of laboratory equipment and tools.
• Effectively use computer applications/technology for instruction and communication as appropriate
• Assess, evaluate, and document student learning and achievement of course outcomes, and provide timely feedback to support learning including providing individualized support
• Communicate and interact effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as a member of the educational team.
• Uphold LCC policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

• Lecture rate is $80.68 per contact hour ($887.48 per credit).
• Lab rate is $60.08 per contact hour ($1,321.76 per credit).
• Field-based experience rate is $43.64 per contact hour ($1,440.16 per credit).
