About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Entry-Level Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join their team in Melville, NY. This position involves both field and office work, with an expectation of 75% to 95% of time spent in the field. The role supports the Resilience Environment team and focuses on environmental assessment and remediation projects, particularly those involving emerging contaminants. The candidate will work with senior staff on various project activities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related field (i.e., environmental science, physical science).
Strong organizational and team building skills.
Comfortable with a dynamic workflow.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Self-motivated.
Exhibits independent thinking.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting as well as independently and remotely.
Adaptable, creative problem solvers who can work collaboratively as a team member.
Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Master of Science degree in Geology or closely related field.
Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.

Responsibilities

Executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.
Overseeing drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation.
Conducting groundwater sampling.
Overseeing subcontractors.
Operating and maintaining remediation systems.
Performing vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys.
Conducting fieldwork with a focus on health and safety.
Writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda.
Conducting field work including soil, groundwater, and/or vapor sampling.
Performing regional business travel for fieldwork up to 1-2 days per week on average.
Potentially traveling within the U.S. for up to two weeks at a time, a few times per year.
