About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Geologist or Scientist to join their Resilience Environment team in Paramus, New Jersey. This role involves improving quality of life by contributing to projects focused on soil, water, and air quality, as well as monitoring and remediation efforts. The position offers opportunities to work on Phase I and Phase II projects, complex drilling events, and chemical injections. Arcadis is committed to protecting natural environments and water resources, fostering the development of junior staff into environmental leaders, and advancing the understanding of emerging contaminants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or closely related field (i.e., environmental science, physical science)
  • 2 years of relevant work experience highlighted in your resume
  • Working knowledge of MS Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Science degree in Geology or closely related field
  • Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training
  • Experience supervising environmental drilling
  • Experience with injection remediation
  • Prior knowledge of NJDEP rules and regulations

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.
  • Conducting fieldwork including collection and documentation of soil, air/vapor, groundwater, and surface water samples.
  • Overseeing subcontractors, including drilling operations and the installation of groundwater wells.
  • Performing remedial system operation and maintenance checks and repairs.
  • Conducting facility inspections and soil gas (vapor intrusion) surveys.
  • Field preparation, equipment procurement, and analytical laboratory sampling coordination.
  • Conducting site visits and site characterization activities, including performing drilling oversight for soil sampling and/or groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, stormwater sampling, and/or excavation oversight.
  • Oversight of remedial system installation activities.
  • Providing emergency response support for train derailments/HAZMAT spills, including environmental sample planning and collection, rail client and state/federal regulator correspondence, and onsite contractor oversight, with potential travel throughout the US.
  • Writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda.
  • Data processing including table and trend analysis.
  • Modeling of groundwater plumes.
  • Task coordination, data analysis, proposal development and costing, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory and historical file review, project strategy development, schedule and budget management.
  • Assisting project managers with preparing subcontracts and overseeing their work.
