About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Geologist/Scientist or Environmental Engineer to join its Resilience Environment team in San Luis Obispo, California, with a planned start in January 2027. The role supports environmental assessment and remediation projects for U.S. Federal Government and industrial clients, including a growing portfolio of emerging contaminant projects and remediation capabilities. The successful candidate will work with Senior Scientists and Engineers, Project/Program Managers, and Technical Experts, contributing to treatment-system engineering design and optimization, field investigations, sampling, pilot programs, and full-scale remedial efforts. The position combines office and field work, including task and scope management, data analysis, report preparation, and client communications. Field activities may include drilling oversight for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, remediation-system operation and maintenance, and vapor intrusion or soil-gas surveys. The role also supports emergency response teams during incidents such as train derailments and pipeline releases, under the direction of trained incident responders. This may involve unanticipated travel and work outside standard business hours. Regional field travel averages up to one to two days per week. Several times per year, travel within the United States may last up to two weeks. Estimated travel may reach 75% during the first two years and typically drops to 50% by the third year as the employee’s career develops. Travel expenses are reimbursable.
