About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Geologist 2 to join their Greenville, SC office. This role involves assisting Project Managers and Task Managers in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. A significant portion of the role will be fieldwork, including overseeing drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, and vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys. Health and safety will be a primary focus during fieldwork. The position also includes office work such as task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file reviews, assisting in costing and proposal preparation, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and establishment of subcontracts. The role requires strong communication skills, self-motivation, independent thinking, and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team setting. Approximately 75% of the time will be spent on fieldwork and 25% in the office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related field (i.e., environmental science, physical science)
  • 3 years of experience within the industry
  • Valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field work including soil, groundwater, and/or vapor sampling in the field.
  • Provide oversight of subcontractors for various phases of drilling investigation work (soil borings, in-situ groundwater sampling, and monitoring well installation activities.
  • Assist task managers and project managers with field work preparation: obtain equipment and subcontractor quotes, order and track equipment, supplies, and laboratory orders, prepare paperwork (field forms, health and safety plans, etc.).
  • Writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda.
  • Office work may include task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file reviews, assisting in costing and proposal preparation, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and establishment of subcontracts.
