GeoFORCE is a youth education outreach program created by the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas to recruit students in Austin, Houston, and Southwest Texas and develop future STEM leadership. Counselors are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of 10–12 students throughout weeklong traveling academies and support coordinators with logistical and educational tasks. This male-floor role requires residing on a male-designated floor with participants for privacy and safety reasons; the posting states it is open to individuals whose biological sex is male for rooming and supervision assignments. The position is based at the Pickle Research Campus and is scheduled for 15 hours per week. The expected duration is through August 31, 2027, with the earliest start date listed as immediately. Substantial travel is associated with the role, and selected candidates must attend in-person training on May 25, 2027. Paid overtime of 40 or more hours during scheduled academy weeks is expected. Staff stay in hotels during the 9th–11th grade academy and in UT dorms with students during the 12th grade academy. Counselors must follow UT policies and the University of Texas Youth Protection Program, UT Human Resources, and GeoFORCE Texas requirements. These include the zero-tolerance no-alcohol policy during field experiences, child-safety training, and CPR/First Aid certification, which is provided by the program. Counselors may need to perform First Aid or CPR in the field. Finalists must undergo a criminal history background check. Hired employees must complete Form I-9 and present acceptable original identity and work-authorization documents by the third day of employment; the university uses E-Verify.
