About The Position

Performs various responsibilities, including medical record management, triaging appointments, coordinating follow-up, facilitating genetic testing, patient interaction, and support of clinical staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains and documents family history information, and as appropriate, generate patient pedigrees in pedigree-making software.
  • Enters relevant patient data into EMR systems.
  • Assists with patient chart review and case preparation for genetics patients (i.e. ensuring required medical records are obtained and managed).
  • Assists with coordinating genetic testing for patients and family members, including sample collection and preparing test requisitions.
  • Research genetic testing labs and coordinate insurance coverage for genetic testing.
  • Discloses negative genetic test results, as requested by genetic counselor.
  • Communicates with genetic counselors, team members, laboratory, and insurance personnel in an effective and timely manner.
  • Prepares letters of medical necessity for genetic testing.
  • Performs prior authorization requests for genetic testing, as needed.
  • Triage, track referral, and assists with scheduling team by evaluating personal and family history information.
  • Answers telephone, manages voicemail, schedules appointments, and communicates with patients and clinicians.
  • Assists patients with utilization of telehealth services.
  • Answer and resolve routine patient inquiries via telephone and email.
