About The Position
The Genetic Counselor provides counseling to patients referred to the program who may be at risk for a hereditary condition. The role advises patients on genetic testing matters, including risk assessment, an overview of genetic testing, test results and their implications, and suggested follow-up. Credentialing must be completed within 45 days of hire and before billing.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Genetic Counseling, or equivalent experience in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
- Two years of recent relevant experience.
- Certified Genetic Counselor (CGC) credential.
- Understanding of clinical applications and standards necessary to provide comprehensive, current genetic services and counseling.
- Familiarity with computer database input and data retrieval.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, and good writing ability.
- Knowledge and experience working in teams with health professionals.
- Complete credentialing within 45 days of hire and before billing.
