Works under moderate supervision of physician and/or principal investigator to provide genetic counseling to patients who have birth defects or genetic disorders and to families who may be at risk for variety of inherited conditions. Functions as part of multidisciplinary team, including physicians, Ph.D. researchers, nurses, social workers, and other health care professionals. Candidates should have experience with, or a strong interest in, hemophilia and inherited bleeding disorders, as 50% of this role involves genetic counseling within a multidisciplinary Hemophilia Treatment Center. The genetic counselor will work closely with hematologists and other care team members to provide comprehensive patient care. The remaining 50% supports a lipid-focused research project and clinic, making this an ideal opportunity for someone interested in both clinical care and research.
