About The Position

Responsible for coordinating specialized genetic counseling services for identified patient populations by designing, developing, implementing and supervising patient/family genetic counseling programs. Analyzes and interprets information about the genetic disorder and inheritance patterns to aid in diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Counsels patients and families by explaining aspects of the disease, current state of knowledge, and potential diagnostic techniques.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or a related field.
  • Board certification or eligibility for board certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC).
  • Experience in genetic counseling, including patient assessment, risk assessment, and counseling.
  • Knowledge of genetic disorders, inheritance patterns, and diagnostic techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant research and literature in genetics and genetic counseling.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
