Assists genetic counselors in providing support to patients and families by collecting and organizing medical information, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records. Essential Functions: Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers by applying best practices and standard operating procedures. Prepares correspondence, documents, reports and other materials which may be moderately complex or confidential, sometimes requiring independent judgment. Schedules appointments for department staff as appropriate. Obtain applicable records and results from outside providers and laboratories. Communicates with families regarding pre-clinic information, insurance prior authorization, sample collection, result disclosure, future plan and updates to families at the direction of clinical staff. Manages lists of established genetics patients and monitors status of pending clinical work-up. Manages entering patient data in Ohio Department of Health and other research-based databases. Works cross functionally with laboratories, genetic counselors, clinicians and others regarding testing, status updates, delays, referrals, and sample collection.
