About The Position

The Generator Repairs Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing generators and related equipment. This role involves hands-on work with machinery, ensuring quality specifications are met, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The technician will collaborate with various departments and adhere to company policies and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and find the root cause of problems.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Engineering Change Orders, repair manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities.
  • Reliability and good attendance, adherence to Time & Attendance policy.
  • Ability to use various hand and power tools, measuring devices, and testing devices and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • High school diploma/GED required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 6S.
  • Certification in crane and forklift operation (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with generators and equipment.
  • Observe and test the operation of generators and equipment to diagnose malfunctions using testing devices.
  • Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.
  • Perform tests of machinery and equipment throughout the repair process to ensure generator meets quality specifications.
  • Reassemble equipment after completion of repairs, inspections, and testing.
  • Operate overhead crane and forklift, and obtain necessary certifications.
  • Track component traceability and collect data in the DCS computer system, if applicable.
  • Fill out necessary paperwork, such as auto-controls.
  • Track time assigned to each job for costing purposes, clocking all time in DCS.
  • Work with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain departments to complete tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
  • Follow 6S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Inform management of any issues throughout the repair process.
  • Ensure tasks are performed according to organizational requirements for quality management and environmental, health, and safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Complete other duties and work in other areas as assigned, including housekeeping tasks.
  • Be at the workstation on time at the beginning of the shift and after breaks.
