About The Position

Bassett Services is seeking a customer-focused Generator Maintenance Technician to join our growing team. Unlike traditional technician roles that prioritize extensive mechanical experience, this position is ideal for individuals who excel at building customer relationships, identifying opportunities to improve customer satisfaction, and serving as a trusted advisor to homeowners. The Generator Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine generator maintenance, conducting system inspections, educating customers on equipment performance and service options, and recommending solutions that help protect their homes and families. While generator experience is beneficial, strong communication, customer service, and sales skills are the primary qualifications for success in this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in customer service, retail sales, outside sales, hospitality, or home services.
  • Generator, electrical, HVAC, automotive, or mechanical experience.
  • Experience presenting service recommendations or maintenance agreements.
  • Familiarity with ServiceTitan or similar field-service software.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on residential standby generators.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and identify potential equipment issues.
  • Clearly communicate maintenance findings and recommendations to customers.
  • Educate homeowners on generator operation, maintenance needs, and available service plans.
  • Identify additional service opportunities and make appropriate recommendations based on customer needs.
  • Build trust and establish long-term relationships with customers through exceptional service.
  • Document maintenance activities, inspections, and customer interactions accurately.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a professional manner.
  • Collaborate with dispatch and management to ensure efficient scheduling and customer communication.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company standards.
