Requirements

  • Mechanical Skills – The ability to operate light construction equipment such as trenchers and forklifts and set up scaffolding and other materials.
  • Physical Stamina/Strength – Must be able to lift at least 100 lbs. and carry heavy tools and equipment in all kinds of weather on a daily basis.
  • Listening – Following instructions to ensure proper installation of materials and workplace safety.
  • Organizational Skills – Setting up tools and materials at a worksite.
  • Math Skills – Measuring materials when cutting lumber or pouring concrete.
  • Time Management – Completing assigned tasks such as setting up work areas and unloading materials in a timely manner.
  • Team Player – Ability to work closely with contractors, foremen, engineers, other helpers, and vendors on a worksite.

Responsibilities

  • Unload Material: Unload materials such as lumber, tools, and other equipment at a worksite. Load materials to be taken to a worksite or transport materials and equipment from one worksite to another.
  • Set Up Equipment: Set up equipment to be used at a job site. This includes setting up work stations, running lines for power tools, erecting scaffolding, laying out tools, setting up forms for concrete foundations, and handing tools to workers.
  • Assist with Framing and Other Tasks: Perform light construction duties such as pouring foundations or installing sheetrock. Operate equipment to dig trenches, nail together boards for framing, or assist tradesmen with installing windows, electrical or plumbing systems.
  • Clean Up Worksites: Remove all debris, pack up tools, put away unused materials, and take down bracing and scaffolding. Keep debris away from active worksites throughout the day to ensure safety.
