About The Position

The HR Generalist partners with employees and management to support business objectives across designated business units and locations. This role oversees and administers HR functions in alignment with company policies and procedures, ethical business practices, and all applicable laws, regulations, and governmental guidelines. In addition, the HR Generalist supports recruiting, onboarding initiatives, and facilitates training programs for hourly team members.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Broad knowledge in each of the Human Resources functional areas – Recruiting/Selection, Benefits, Compensation, Performance Management, Organization Planning and Staff/Executive Development, Employee relations, EEO/Affirmative Action, Legal Compliance and Payroll.
  • Knowledge of computerized information systems used in Human Resource applications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software – minimum intermediate level user of excel (e.g. pivot tables, formulas, graphs, etc.); advanced level user of PowerPoint (org chart function, SmartArt, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability in being able to be independent and self-starter in establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability in working in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with multiple levels and different functions within the organization including solid communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in successfully working in a team environment required.
  • Work requires continual attention to detail in creating reports and materials, data entry, etc.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information required.
  • Ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision, exercise initiative and judgment, make decisions within the scope of assigned authority and deal with highly confidential matters.
  • Must be a fast learner and able to assimilate new software, procedures and techniques as introduced.
  • Must demonstrate good judgement when carrying out duties as assigned.
  • Minimum 3 years prior Human Resources position/department experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources or related field with minimum three years of experience providing HR support in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • English is required as the written and spoken language.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire a state issued Driver’s License.

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR, PHR-CA, or SHRM-CP) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR, SPHR-CA, or SHRM-SCP).

Responsibilities

  • Act as a true Business Partner to, and be a part of local Plant Management, to help locations achieve their goals, budgets, and plans. Provide necessary support, advice, counsel, and guidance to line-management and employees.
  • Determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale at each plant/location.
  • Establish credibility at designated locations with management and the employees with a high level of integrity and confidentiality in order to be an effective listener and problem solver of people issues.
  • Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce company policies and procedures of CDI, by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the business.
  • Maintain knowledge of Company policies and HR programs, procedures, laws and issues. Understand the differences of federal and state laws, policies and programs and coordinate the integration and compliance of all such programs.
  • Work closely with the local safety departments on overlapping areas. Follow all safety and working rules.
  • Maintain the ability to get along with co-workers, management personnel, customers, vendors, and employees in accordance with the company policies and working rules while ensuring a harmonious and conducive work environment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality environment.
  • Excellent regular, full-time attendance in support of company objectives.
  • Use initiative and judgment in making decisions, keeping with CDI best interests.
  • Provide HR leadership and support to include plant Recruiting, Onboarding, Payroll, Leave Administration & HR reports/analytics; being proficient in our HRIS system, creating presentations, spreadsheets, organization charts, orientation, etc.
  • Provide general HR Administrator support for attendance tracking, Safety & Attendance program, learning & development, HRIS data input/maintenance, answering telephone inquiries, scheduling meetings, filing/record retention, conferences, meetings, including; inviting attendees, reserving conference rooms, arranging for catering as needed, etc.
  • Assist on various human resources projects
  • Keep associates informed of all changes in Company policies, and counsel with associates on policies and work-related issues.
  • Understand plant training processes and be able to facilitate and track employee's training progress across all functions.
  • Perform other day-to-day functions, such as, maintaining adequate office supplies and ordering other supplies as needed.
  • Planning and various special projects, researching and compiling information, preparing presentations, developing reports, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
