About The Position

This role involves general plant labor and cleanup of production areas, observing and reporting any conditions that could lead to product nonconformity or other irregularities. The position is trained in various entry-level production positions and fills in as needed during vacations, absences, and increased production demands. Responsibilities also include performing kiln outage work, such as removal and installation of kiln refractory, reporting equipment problems, completing equipment pre-shift reports, cleaning work areas, shoveling stone from around conveyors, maintaining bathroom facilities, operating a small front-end loader, and assisting other workers as needed or directed. Other duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Willing and able to work rotating shifts, including nights & weekends
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively with other employees of the organization
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
Regularly required to stand, frequently required to walk and occasionally required to sit
Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
Reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

Observe, monitor and report any conditions that could lead to product nonconformity or other irregularity
Trained in various entry-level production positions and fills in as needed during vacation, absences, and increased production demands
Perform kiln outage work including removal and installation of kiln refractory
Report equipment problems identified to management
Complete equipment pre-shift report, if applicable
Clean work areas
Shovel stone from around conveyors
Maintain bathroom facilities
Operate small front end loader
Replace or assist other workers as needed or directed
Other duties as assigned by management
