About The Position

This role involves general plant labor and cleanup of production areas. The employee will observe, monitor, and report any conditions that could lead to product nonconformity or other irregularities. The position requires training in various entry-level production positions to fill in as needed during vacations, absences, and periods of increased production demands. Responsibilities include performing kiln outage work, such as removing and installing kiln refractory, reporting equipment problems to management, and completing equipment pre-shift reports if applicable. The job also entails cleaning work areas, shoveling stone from around conveyors, maintaining bathroom facilities, operating a small front-end loader, and assisting other workers as needed or directed. Other duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Willing and able to work rotating shifts, including nights & weekends
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to speak effectively with other employees of the organization
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
• Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
• Regularly required to stand, frequently required to walk and occasionally required to sit

Responsibilities

• General plant labor and clean up of production areas

• Trained in various entry-level production positions and fills in as needed during vacation, absences, and increased production demands
• Perform kiln outage work including removal and installation of kiln refractory
• Report equipment problems identified to management
• Complete equipment pre-shift report, if applicable
• Clean work areas
• Shovel stone from around conveyors
• Maintain bathroom facilities
• Operate small front end loader
• Replace or assist other workers as needed or directed
• Other duties as assigned by management
