General Utility Worker
About The Position
Performs manual work related to the upkeep of highways, grounds, buildings, and equipment on the UNC–CH campus, along with a variety of physical labor tasks requiring some specialized knowledge and experience. Work is routine and repetitive and may require strenuous physical exertion. The position requires working knowledge of machine operations, safety practices, snow removal operations, and horticultural and turf management practices, as well as good oral communication skills to clearly deliver and receive task instructions. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A $3,497 sign-on bonus is available to the successful applicant, paid in two installments: $1,748.50 within 30 days of the hire date and $1,748.50 12 months after the hire date.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of machine operations and safety practices.
- Working knowledge of snow removal operations.
- Working knowledge of horticultural and turf management practices.
- Good oral communication skills to deliver and receive task instructions clearly.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license, or ability to obtain one before the hire date.
