General Utility Worker
About The Position
Individuals in this class perform manual work in the upkeep of the Marine Shipyard grounds, buildings, and equipment. This position will perform a wide variety of general building maintenance and facility support functions. Work assignments will be utilizing basic hand tools. Work is performed with general supervision in repetitive and routine assignments and may be closely supervised when assisting higher-level trades workers in performing more complex work. All other duties as required by supervisor. This position is located at the NCDOT Ferry Shipyard in Manns Harbor.
Requirements
- Experience in the performance of a variety of manual tasks that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade equivalent to one year of experience.
- Experience using physical strength sufficient to move relatively heavy objects.
- Experience working at heavy manual tasks for considerable periods of time.

- Basic knowledge of the application of trade skills to the duties assigned.
- Skill in the use and care of equipment and tools used in performing work assignments.
- Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
