About The Position

Rogers Group is currently seeking a General Utility Operator in the Glade Hill, VA area for our Virginia SMA operations. The successful candidate for this position will have familiarity and experience operating articulated and/or rigid frame haul trucks and will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.

Requirements

• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, dust, etc.).
• Able to perform a variety of duties, some which may include plant clean-up, maintenance, operating equipment and other duties as assigned
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time throughout the workday, as required to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to learn quickly
• Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as dictated by customer demands.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity and experience operating articulated and/or rigid frame haul trucks
• Experience is preferred for operating equipment, including skid steer and loader.
• Skilled operators of heavy equipment with quarry and mining experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate haul trucks to remove overburden and stripping material for quarry production.
• General plant/mine labor and clean-up of production areas, including shoveling stone from around conveyors and assist with plant clean up and operations
• Being trained in various other entry level production positions and filling in as needed during vacations, absences and increased production demand times
• Operate equipment, including but not limited to: skid steer and loader.
• Report equipment problems and identify them to management.
• Light maintenance work and maintain the belt lines
• Complete equipment pre-shift report – if applicable
• Assist other workers as needed or directed and other duties as assigned by management
