As a Packer, you're responsible for inspecting and packaging plastic products, ensuring they meet quality standards and are ready for shipment. The Utility Person is responsible for weighing, grinding and documenting scrap. A key part of this role is maintaining a clean, safe and organized work environment while following all standard operating procedures (SOP's) and safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • Basic mechanical aptitude with ability to assist in troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines consistently.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to accurately monitor, record, and maintain production data.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to support production staff and maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining cleanliness and organization of work areas.
  • High School Diploma or GED required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in plastics or packaging industry a plus

Responsibilities

  • Operate the grinder safely and efficiently according to established procedures.
  • Properly separate and identify regrind materials.
  • Grind good, clean, rejected material, and excess plastic material for reuse.
  • Inspect material before grinding and remove contamination or foreign objects.
  • Monitor the grinder for unusual noise, vibration, jams, or other operating issues.
  • Notify maintenance department of any jams, or when the grinder goes down.
  • Keep the grinder, surrounding area, and material-handling areas clean and organized.
  • Move and stage and gaylords, boxes, or containers of scrap/regrind as needed.
  • Follow all forklift/lift-truck and material-handling safety requirements when applicable.
  • Complete required production regrind and material paperwork accurately.
  • Report equipment problems, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or injuries immediately.
  • Follow PPE requirements and all company safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Assist the production and warehouse teams with other assigned duties as needed.
