About The Position
Heywood Hospital is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible General Surgeon to provide per diem/locum weekday call coverage. This flexible opportunity is ideal for surgeons looking to supplement their practice while supporting a collaborative, community-focused surgical team. Heywood Healthcare is an independent community health system serving North Central Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. Our system includes Heywood Hospital, Athol Hospital, Heywood Medical Group, and a network of primary and specialty care practices dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Requirements
- MD or DO degree
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
- Eligible for Massachusetts medical licensure
- DEA certification
- Excellent clinical judgment and communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Experience in community hospital practice preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide weekday general surgery call coverage
- Evaluate and manage emergency surgical consults
- Perform emergency and urgent surgical procedures as clinically indicated
- Collaborate with Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, and specialty providers
- Ensure timely documentation and continuity of patient care
