About The Position

Heywood Hospital is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible General Surgeon to provide per diem/locum weekday call coverage. This flexible opportunity is ideal for surgeons looking to supplement their practice while supporting a collaborative, community-focused surgical team. This is a per diem/locum opportunity for weekday call coverage, offering flexible scheduling based on availability. The role involves providing general surgery call coverage, evaluating and managing emergency surgical consults, and performing emergency and urgent surgical procedures as clinically indicated. The physician will collaborate with Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, and specialty providers, ensuring timely documentation and continuity of patient care. The position is within a supportive and experienced surgical team at a well-established community hospital with efficient OR staff and strong anesthesia support.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
• Eligible for Massachusetts medical licensure
• DEA certification
• Excellent clinical judgment and communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Experience in community hospital practice preferred
