About The Position

We are seeking a General Surgery Nurse Practitioner for locum tenens coverage in a hospital setting. This role involves clinical duties and on-call responsibilities, with a primary focus on general surgery, OB/GYN, and orthopedic patients. The position requires providing surgical first assist support, managing patient care, performing rounding, and responding to on-call needs. The coverage period is from July to August 2026, with a potential extension. The facility utilizes the Epic EMR system and has specialty backup and support staff available.

Requirements

• Active NY license required
• Board Certified Nurse Practitioner
• DEA required
• BLS, ACLS, ATLS certifications
• Minimum 2 years recent experience required
• Epic experience required

Nice To Haves

• Robotics experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical first assist support in the operating room
• Assist with patient care including suction, drainage, and irrigation
• Perform rounding, progress notes, consults, and discharges
• Support general, OB/GYN, and orthopedic surgical teams
• Respond to on-call duties and patient care needs
• Perform wound care and vessel cauterization
• Utilize suturing and closure techniques
• Provide hemostasis and intraoperative support
